Randy Chandler established RR Chandler in 1991 to offer top-notch construction services to discerning clients in the Mid-Willamette Valley and beyond. Due to our love of classic architecture, we entered the Portland area and began renovating homes in the Laurelhurst, Irvington, and Alameda neighborhoods in NE Portland. As we built our reputation, we were asked to build new homes that looked like they were part of the neighborhood. Over the years, we have built a reputation for excellence and have had the privilege of working on some of the most impressive building projects in the area.
In addition to our exceptional construction capabilities, we pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and attention to detail. Building a home or an income property is a personal experience. Therefore, we work closely with our clients to understand their vision and ensure that every detail is executed perfectly. We take great care to keep our clients informed and involved throughout the construction process. We strive to exceed their expectations at every turn.
If you’re looking for a luxury home builder in Portland and the Willamette Velley, Oregon give us a shout, and we’ll see if we are a good fit.

FAQ
We build, Renovate and remodel homes in the Greater Portland area and all its unique neighbourhoods.
We have recently opened up an office in Corvallis. We do not have renovated or remodel in Corvallis, but we have made our new homes team available for new custom homes in Corvallis, Philomath & Albany.
We recommend that you first identify your lot. This enables us and the rest of your home-building team to ensure that your dream house makes the most of your lot. You may have an existing home and not sure if renovating or starting over from scratch is better. Maybe you are not sure where to look for a lot? Give us a call; we'd be delighted to assist.

There are usually two scenarios when our clients come to us. Scenario one: You have an existing home that just doesn’t work for your family's changing needs. In this scenario, we strongly encourage finding an architect and bringing us on during the consultation stage. The second scenario is during the house-hunting phase. Many of our projects have started with our clients hiring us to consult with them when visiting homes with their chosen realtor. We have seen it all with Portland’s old homes and will give you our honest opinion on potential costs and whether renovating or tearing down and building new makes the most sense. Give us a call; we'd be delighted to assist.

The quick answer is to both! If you already have an architect , fantastic!! We'd love to collaborate with them. If not, let us guide you in finding an architect that reflects your vision regarding your custom design. Learn about what we feel is the best process in our Learning Center.
We do not have an architect or designer on staff. Because each of our clients has a distinct vision or wish list for their custom house, we collaborate with a diverse group of highly qualified architects that can assist you in accomplishing your specific wants and goals. If you need architect recommendations, please contact our team. There's a strong chance we can find your perfect match.
Please see our philosophy on Design-Build in our Learning Center
A semi-custom home design provides a selection of floor designs as well as minor customization possibilities if requested. Lighting, countertops, tiling, flooring, and other finish options are also limited to what is available in their showroom or design center. Because upgrades and change orders invariably drag down a project, semi-custom homebuilders make some upgrades and change orders prohibitively expensive.
A custom home is designed and built from the ground up. The design is unique to you and your property, and every detail of the home is tailored to your needs, interests, and wishes. Collaboration between you, your custom builder, architect, and interior designer delivers a completely distinctive and personalized home. Finish options are not limited, but the builder should always steer you toward materials that remain in your budget.
If you peruse through our gallery of homes you will see incredibly custom kitchens, bathrooms and architectural features. Coming soon you will see our "New Old House" collection where we have entire homes built out and base priced to make your search for your perfect home a little easier.
A fully custom home might take anywhere from 10 months to 2 years to build, depending on the complexity and size of the home. It is achievable to accomplish a semi-custom home project in 6-8 months (with an outstanding team and some g luck), but it is safe to presume that a fully customized home is going to require at least 10 months to complete. Another thing to bear in mind is that the architectural design and pre-construction processes prior to construction often take 3 to 9 months. There are so many other factors that contribute to the time frame when building a home. RR Chandler, LLC has built homes from all sizes from 1000 square feet to over 8000 square feet. We have the team and the expertise for any home you could dream of. Additional details can be found by clicking here.
So many factors contribute to the length of a renovation. Each custom home renovation project is unique, with its own particular set of issues and components. That being said, each individual project will have a distinct timeline, lasting as little as 3 months to over 12 months. Whole-house renovations and additions can require up to a year or more. A knowledgeable custom builder will be able to look at your project and the scope of work and give you an accurate estimation of how long the construction should take. They will recognize what factors to consider and where to make allowances for the unavoidable surprises that come with any project, from the smallest bathroom to the grandest renovation. We at RR Chandler have seen it all and have done every size project you can imagine. Additional details can be found by clicking here.
Our team historically has worked on large-scale home renovations and additions. The differentiation between a smaller-scale and large-scale project depends on the scope and complexity. While some renovators specialize in single-room makeovers, we excel at complex custom construction affecting multiple rooms in the home. Our renovations typically include many moving components, collaboration between various trades, and attentive problem-solving skills throughout the entire process. That being said, we love to do kitchen and bath renovations and welcome you to reach out to us with your ideas
