When our clients collaborated with Steve Bock from GS Bock Design, they thought they were hoping to get a two-car garage. The house is located on a corner lot in the Portland Heights area of West Hills. After exhausting many options, Steve Bock suggested digging out the side of the hill to create space. What transpired was room for an oversized two-car garage and the ability to add an ADU above. A breezeway also attached it to the main house.ย
The scale of the two-story garage blends perfectly with the main house. This ADU has private access and a lock-off door to the main home to accommodate whoever is lucky enough to be a guest in this incredible space. The interior of this space boasts 15 ft high ceilings with stunning precise vertical grain fir beams that were painstakingly installed to perfection.ย
There is a surprisingly large and functional kitchen with flush-inset cabinetry painted a beautiful craftsman green. A farm sink adds a cool touch. One of the most remarkable features of the space is the custom Murphy Bed that opens from the side of the bed instead of the bottom lifting vertically. A local Portland cabinet builder built it custom, and it is one of a kind! Take a look at this small space that lives big. It is an incredible space, and we are proud to have been lucky enough to build it.
